NOTARIZATION OF SIGNATURES FOR THE POWER OF ATTORNEY OR STATEMENT

Verification of signatures on private documents in the Serbian language (Power of Attorney or Statement) for use in the Republic of Serbia is performed at the Consulate General in the personal presence of the issuer of the document. She/he will be identified based on the valid document of the Republic of Serbia (passport or ID card) or American identification documents (passport, driver's license, green card).
If the issuer of the Power of Attorney or Statement is not able to come to the Consulate General in person, the private document can be signed before a US notary and then it must be stamped with an Apostille stamp in the State Secretary of the US state where the US notary is registered. You can find more about Apostille stamping here.
The consular fee for verifying one signature is $ 65. The certification of the second copy of the same private document is $ 30, and the certification of the third and each subsequent copy of the same private document is $ 17. If the signatures of two persons on the same private document are verified, the consular fee is $ 130. The consular fee is paid by credit/debit card, cash or Money Order payable to the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia.

CERTIFYING PHOTOCOPY OF A DOCUMENT

The Consulate General can certify a photocopy of the document. In this case it is necessary to submit the original document and a photocopy of the same. The consular fee for the certification of a photocopy is 48 dollars.

CERTIFYING INHERITOR`S STATEMENT OR POWER OF ATTORNEY RELATED TO REAL ESTATE IN SERBIA

An Inheritor`s Statement, a Power of Attorney authorizing another person to make the Inheritor`s Statement (positive or negative) or a Power of Attorney authorizing another person to conclude a real estate contract in the Republic of Serbia may be signed and certified at the Consulate General.
Negative hereditary statements (renunciation of inheritance) must be made in the form of a confirmed (solemnized) document.
When verifying the signature, the personal presence of the issuer of the Power of Attorney or Statement is necessary. She/He will be identified on the basis of a valid document of the Republic of Serbia (passport or ID card) or American identification documents (passport, driver's license, green card).
The Power of Attorney should be made in the Serbian language in Cyrillic. We recommend that you make an appointment before arriving at the Consulate General and provide us with a draft authorization or statement in WORD format together with a copy of the identification document by e-mail.
